I've been working at kindergarten.
I teach English for 5,6,7 years old children,
Most of their stage is the development of listening comprehension skills.
Learners need not say anything during "silent period."
I think, TPR is the best way to teach them.
For example, the target words are "stand up- sit down".
At first time, they don't read these words, but they act "stand up - sit down."
And then they spontaneously can say without any burden.
Intentionally I open the door before the class, during the class I order a child.
"Please, close the door.". The child understands what I mean.
The resulting self-confidence eventually can spur a student to venture to speak out.
I think among the 4 approaches, Humanistic Approach is more influence for learners.
English is a strange and difficult language for beginning leaners.
Most of all, they don't have any intrinsic movitation why they have to learn english.
They don't even totally understand Korean.
Especially TPR is the method involing Congnitive Approache and Humanistic Approache.
I need to develop an interesting and stimulating vareity of classroom activites.
